Deren Sinn war bislang unbekannt, aber ein Support-Dokument gibt nun Aufschluss: Die Fahrzeuge machen Fotos von den Stra\u00dfen, damit Apple Maps k\u00fcnftig so etwas wie Street View anbieten kann.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ein Support-Dokument bei Apple <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.apple.com\/vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\">gibt<\/a> Aufschluss dar\u00fcber, wof\u00fcr die schwer belandenen Vans verwendet werden, die Apple zahlreich gemietet hat. Sie wurden in letzter Zeit h\u00e4ufig in freier Wildbahn gesichtet, was zu diversen, teils wilden, Spekulationen gef\u00fchrt hat. Unter anderem wurde orakelt, dass es sich dabei um Messfahrten f\u00fcr ein von Apple entwickeltes Auto handeln k\u00f6nnte, das m\u00f6glicherweise sogar selbstst\u00e4ndig f\u00e4hrt.<\/p>\n<p>Wie das Dokument erkl\u00e4rt, ist dem wohl nicht so. Stattdessen fahren diese Autos durch die Stra\u00dfen gr\u00f6\u00dferer St\u00e4dte und schie\u00dfen Fotos von der Umgebung. Das soll genutzt werden, um Apple Maps mit neuen Funktionen auszustatten, mit denen aber erst sp\u00e4ter zu rechnen ist. Apple erkl\u00e4rt, dass man um die Privatsph\u00e4re bem\u00fcht ist und deshalb Gesichter und Nummernschilder verpixeln wird. Au\u00dferdem gibt es eine Liste mit Orten, wo man die Fahrzeuge in n\u00e4chster Zeit antreffen wird. Zwischen dem 15. und 30. Juni wird das in Irland, England und den USA der Fall sein.<\/p>\n<p>Der tiefere Sinn hinter der Aktion d\u00fcrfte damit wohl klar sein: Offenbar arbeitet Apple an einem Update f\u00fcr Apple Maps, das eine Funktion wie Google Street View nachr\u00fcstet. Wann wir diese Funktion in Aktion sehen werden, ist bislang nicht bekannt.
